Dryer Safety Tip

We have been hearing recently about fires starting from dryers and the cause being from the lint screen buildup.

They recommend trying to pour water through it and if repels water, the dryer sheets have built up their residue and that's what caused the fire.

Tip: Only use 1/2 or 1/3 dryer sheet for a load. 1/2 sheet for a large load works as well as a whole sheet...and the buildup won't be as likely to happen. It also makes the box of dryer sheets go further and saves money.

I have had my dryer for over 10 years and I have always used the cut up dryer sheets. Water will run through my screen and always has when I tested it.

Feeding Our Little Wild Birds

Click on picture to enlarge greatly.
Feeding our little wild birds in the
winter time. I have tried to get
a picture when there are 8-10
cardinals among the sparrows
but alas! They fly away no matter
how careful I am when I creep
up to the patio door. They are
so beautiful and we enjoy
them so much. The bright red
one is a male cardinal and the
one on the other flower pot is
a female. I don't know what
the other little bird is...just some
type of little sparrow.

Letter Profile of Annie Ingram

I put a picture of a lady in a magazine on here recently to show how much my DMIL looked like her. She was identical to her picture in her later years. I wanted to add something about her from my old blog. She was a great MIL and a wonderful person. In this picture, she is on the left, shown with her brother and his wife. We lost her in November of 2001, but this was written for her a couple of years before she died.

Letter Profile of Annie Ingram:

Annie: One of the beautiful people. What can I say...that your life has not already conveyed to others? I can only remind us of it. A mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, friend,Christian sister and confidant. (I could tell you any thing and feel that it was safe. Now it would be doubly safe because of our lack of memory.)

You and your wonderful mate, Grady Ingram, have succored many since I have known you...and I have heard many years before that, But I'll just cover what I have observed.

I have observed you as a mother-in-law always willing to help, being there with advice when you were asked for it, but never trying to interfere in the lives of your children.

You took many into your home in their 'low' times...many of your grandchildren, sometimes with, sometimes without their parents , whatever the circumstances warranted and sent them to school many months at a time.

A new baby due in the family...illnesses, accidents...if you were needed...you packed your bags, left your own home and the obligations there, and went off to help.

I remember you postponing having surgery for years that you needed so desperately, because Grady was so scared for you to have it. He was so afraid he would lose you. No one wanted to tell you his fears so you probably did not know until now why he gave you such a hard time about it.

You had the patience of Job, to your own detriment at times. You gave up things for yourself to supply what others needed. You gave your energy and strength when you had little left, but it probably did not surface in your mind as sacrifice, because you were in your domain...doing what you love to do for the ones you love so much!

I know that many of your children and grandchildren are aware of this and appreciate you so very much! Your interest in and love for Grady's people reminds us of a great lady in the Bible who had these qualities. Your real name...isn't by chance, Ruth...Is it?

Thank you Annie, for being such a good role model for the rest of us!

Love you forever, One of your DIL's.

Old Age Can Be Hilarious!

Boy, I just wonder what tomorrow will bring???

I have the Family Newsletter finished. Yippee! I was having to address the envelopes by hand though, because my Microsoft database went crazy. It did do the return address, but it seemed to want to address all of them to the same person no matter what I did. It has worked up till this newsletter. As I wrote the name on them I marked them and I have about half of them done.

So I decided to fill the envelopes and stamp them ready to mail and I put a mark on those. My DH took those to the P O and there were twenty nine of them.

Then I counted the marked ones and there were more than twenty nine marked...so I had used the same mark for the prepared envelopes. I have myself in a fix!!! I don't know who I mailed one to...so some were going to be lucky and not get one and some were going to get two!!!! Probably!

My DH said he would go down and retrieve them for me from the Postmaster. (What would I do with out him?) (Shhhhh! I could actually remark the already addressed envelopes that I still have, and then I would have the twenty nine I mailed separated...but I had rather not do it that way.)

It is really funny sometimes what my D Sister (This means Dear Sister) and I do. We keep ourselves laughing most of the time. If we get to the point where we can't laugh at ourselves...it will be really bad!

Great Uncle Jake was a
fisherman. He caught the
big ones! This is duriing
the time that I knew him.
I was 10 years old about
this time.
My Great Uncle Jake and

fisherman! He caught big
ones on trot lines in Cashe
Creek close to Ryan, OK.
My Dad, in the back. The year was 1913.
He was 8 years old. Uncle Roy on

My Uncle Roy. He is two years
younger than my Dad. This was
taken in Abilene, Texas in 1908.
MyDad in 1964 at Red Rock Canyon
State Park, Hinton, OK.
My Dad did not have to serve in the
armed forces. In World War 1, he was
too young, and in World War 11, he had
the sole responsibility of three little
children. He passed away in 1978 at
the age of 73. He died on his birthday.
Bobby's Dad during World War 1. Our families
have sacrificed a lot to our wars. He passed
away in 1972.
Bobby's Grandfather and Grandmother Angel.
He outlived her, which is unusual...but she was about
2 years older.

My Bro

My bro when he was a junior in

highschool.

My Grandmother, (Our Dad's Mother) who died in 1959. She was the one who lived with us occasionally, or we lived with her off and on while we were little; but most of the time it was just us and our Dad. She was a lot of help to him through the years. I think this was her 88th birthday but she always looked this old to me, even when I was a little girl. She didn't change much as the years crept upon her.

Update On Our Little Gabby

Our little Gabby. She is about as big now as she will get...we think. We hope. We have her so spoiled. We need to get her back on plain dog food. It would be better for her.

The reason we spoiled her is: We buy turkey breast to slice and chicken fry, and we don't like the rest of it but Gabby does! We boil it and with the broth and what meat is left, it's enough for about 5 meals for Gabby mixed up into her dog food. I freeze it in small containers and use it until it's gone...then she has to get used to plain dog food again until I buy another one. Spoiled ! But she is so cute. She loves us so much she tries to hug us with her front legs and paws.
Getting his awards immediately
after the game from Supt., and Prin.
It is a wonderful school; we have the
best superintendent that was ever
at this school in the past...and
they really do put academics first.
Honest!!!!!

His team won the state championship game in the spring of 2005. The first time the school had won the spring one in 40 years. They had gone to state every year in his high school years and finally won. The community was happy! The team had an auction and pie supper and raised over 14 thousand dollars that night. Needless to say, they all were able to get their championship rings.
t The youngest grandchild and you can see he was already busy...growing those big feet. He grew to be 6' 5" and was a left handed baseball pitcher all through grade school and highschool and in his college years. He is in his last year of college.
The youngest granddaughter and middle
child. She reminds us so much of our
daughter, her Aunt Ke-Ke. This little
one is 22 now.
A bucketfull of precious and first day
of kindergarten. She stopped by on
her way home to see Me-Ma!
This was in August of 1989.
She is 23 now.

Big Bro Getting Sugar from Baby Sister
My little 2-1/2 year old boy kissiing his baby sister is the daddy of my three grandchildren above.

MIL

The one on the left is my DMIL and this one is a little older one of her. The resemblance is remarkable.

My Dear MIL

This one is in black and white and she was much younger but it is the best one we could find where she was looking kinda down like the woman in the first picture. Imagine my DH's surprise when he was looking through the book: World Disasters of the 21st Century, and came across this picture that looks soooo much like his mother. She had a blue coat also, and we have seen her hold her hands just like the other lady is doing and when she was this age they are just identical. They say we all have a twin and we think her's lived in Italy during the last century!!!

Lady

Check out this picture and then the one above it and see if you think they look alike!

Take The Hand Of A Child.

Written by this little boy when he grew up.

TAKE THE HAND OF A CHILD

Take the hand of a child...feel the tiny fingers clasp yours. It may be smeared with a Popsicle or chocolate candy or ice cream. The hand is probably dirty from playing with a dog or cat. You may notice a band aid on the finger, or a wart on the thumb. But the hand that you hold is the hand of the future.

Someday that little hand may hold a Bible...and work to proclaim the Word of God; or that little hand may hold a gun...and seek to take the lives and property of others.

Someday that little hand may work diligently...to provide the needs of a family; or that little hand may jerk and tremble uncontrolled, by the mind of a drug addict.

Someday that little hand may reach out to render aid to those who are in need...or simply reach for another bottle to satisfy the torturous cravings of an alcoholic.

Someday that little hand may be a tool of generosity and hospitality...used by a truly committed disciple of Jesus...or a tool of greed and selfish ambition, used to lay up treasures on this earth.

But right now...that little hand is in yours. It is attached to a child who is filled with wonder...whose heart is pure and clean and whose mind is filled with a desire to learn.

What an opportunity! What a responsibility! The question is...What would you do with this little hand? Will you help guide this little hand? And mold this little heart? Will you work to guide this little child to Jesus?

It will take time...it will take sacrifice...it will take diligence. The opportunity is yours! The opportunity is now! And the opportunity is fleeting!

Will you take the hand of a child?

More Thoughts On Abortion

If you had been in a coma in the years preceeding 1973, and had not heard the arguments of the courts or seen news clippings, and had awaken after the US Supreme court legalized abortion, you would have been shocked and thought you were in another country than our beloved United States of America!

I pray that Tom's 'maybe' will come true in the preceeding article that he wrote. (" Maybe 2007 will be the year that this horrible holocaust will come to an end.") Many of us hope and pray that this will come to an end. This catastrophe did not happen overnight. It happened over a long period of time.

I wonder what causes us to be so ignorant (from the word 'ignor') that to redefine an act and call it by some other word, makes it more acceptable to us. We can think of other acts that are redefined and called by more 'acceptable' terms.

People changed our language and instead of calling it "killing our little unborn babies", we call it abortion ( a medical term) and we got conditioned to the arguments a small bit at a time over the years and then when it happened, no one got too concerned about it. What a situation we have gotten ourselves into!

Abortion

If Wombs Had Windows
by Tom Wacaster

I cannot remember the first time I heard the expression, "If wombs had windows, abortions would immediately cease."

Since the infamous Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973, more than 45,000,000 babies have been aborted. The opponents of abortion have waged an unending battle with those who would undermine the sanctity of life. With increased medical technology comes the very real possibility that Roe vs. Wade will be overturned, and the nightmare of infanticide will end. Most of us have never taken the time to review the records of Roe vs. Wade, and were it not for a small reference to it in a book I am now reading, I may never have come across this little bit of information relative to this subject. But first, a little background.

In 1970, a pregnant woman in Dallas sought an abortion. It was denied under an 1854 Texas law denying abortions except when the mother's life was at stake. She fought the law, using the pseudonym "Jane Roe." The Supreme Court heard her case twice. In 1973, the Court announced its 7-2 vote to strike down the Texas law on the grounds that the 14th Amendment protects a woman's right to choice in the matter and the 9th Amendment reserves to the people all rights not specifically restricted.

The argument for the defense (i.e., the state of Texas) argued that the state of Texas had an interest in protecting the life of an unborn child after a certain point, which was determined to be the first trimester. Sarah Weddington was the counsel of "Jane Roe," and Jay Floyd and Robert Flowers were lawyers on the staff of the attorney general of Texas. Since the Supreme Court's decision on that fateful day in 1973, women in America, with the consent of and advice from their doctors, have been instrumental in murdering millions of unborn children. Permit me, now, to provide you with a couple of statements from the transcript of the lengthy court session that led to the final decision on the part of the Supreme Court. This little tidbit comes from a book entitled, "Eyewitnesses to America," edited by David Colbert.

On December 13, 1971, Counselor for the defense, Sarah Weddington argued: "We feel that because of the impact on the woman, this certainly, inasfar [sic] as there are any rights which are fundamental, is a matter which is of fundamental and basic concern to the woman involved that she should be allowed to make the choice as to whether to continue or to terminate her pregnancy."

Lawyers for the State of Texas rightly responded: "I think she makes her choice prior to the time she becomes pregnant. That is the time of the choice...once a child is born, a woman no longer has a choice, and I think pregnancy may terminate that choice. We say there is life from the moment of impregnation."

Justice Thurgood Marshall responded: "And do you have any scientific data to support that?" Evidently Jay Floyd, lawyer for the State, did not present sufficient or satisfying "scientific data,"and as a consequence, "the rest is history," as they say.

But let us now tell you "the rest of the story." In late 1972, only three months before the final decision regarding Roe vs. Wade, the following argument took place between the "Court" and Weddington (remember, Sarah Weddington was the Counselor for Jane Roe, the woman seeking the abortion).

Weddington: "The Court has in the past held that it is the right of the parents to determine whether or not they will send their child to private school; whether or not their children will be taught foreign languages; whether or not they will have offspring. So there is a great body of cases, decided by this Court, in the areas of marriage, sex, contraception, procreation, childbearing, and education, which says that there are certain things that are so much a part of the individual concern that they should be left to the determination of the individual. If the state could show that the fetus was a person under the Fourteenth Amendment, or under some other amendment or part of the Constitution, then the state would have compelling interest, which in some instances can outweigh a fundamental right."

Now, dear reader, did you catch that? If the state could show that the fetus was a person, then the state's interest (in this case, protecting the right of the unborn child) would outweigh the "fundamental right" of the mother! The response of the Court to Weddington's remark will become a crucial issue when the Supreme Court convenes this year to hear yet another case regarding abortion. Please consider these words from the Court made more than 36 years ago:

Court to Weddington: "If it were established that an unborn fetus is a person, within the protection of the Fourteenth Amendment, you would have an impossible case here, would you not?" To which Sarah Weddington admitted, "I would have a very difficult case."

The Court to Flowers: "And the basic constitutional question, initially, is whether or not an unborn fetus is a person, isn't it?"
Robert Flowers: (lawyer for the State of Texas): "Yes, and entitled to the constitutional protections."
Court: "That's critical to this case, is it not?"
Flowers: "Yes sir, it is. I think that here is exactly what we're facing in this case: Is the life of this unborn fetus paramount over the woman's right to determine whether or not she shall bear a child? This Court has been deligent in protecting the rights of the minorities, and, gentlemen, we say that this is a minority, a silent minority, the true silent minority.

Who is speaking for these children? Where is the counsel for those unborn children, whose life is being taken? Where is the safeguard of the right to trial by jury? Are we to place this power in the hands of a mother, in a doctor? What would keep a legislator, under this grounds, from deciding who else might or might not be a human being, or might not be a person?"

With the medical technology now available it can be clearly established that from the point of conception there is sentient life in the womb. We can now look into the womb with cameras and sound equipment, and watch that precious infant as he/she breathes, moves, laughs and cries.

Maybe 2007 will be the year that this horrible holocaust will come to an end. Maybe our prayers will be heard by God, and those men now sitting on the bench of the highest court in the land will realize that life does begin at conception.

Let us pray that those men will live up to their God-given responsibility, and pass down a decision that is in accord with God's will. Oh yes, "If wombs had windows!"

Thank you, Tom.

Global Warming

A Little Bit Of Politics:

Today's News Clip:

PARIS - Scientists from 113 countries issued a landmark report Friday saying they have little doubt global warming is caused by man, and predicting that hotter temperatures and rises in sea level will "continue for centuries" no matter how much humans control their pollution. (Sounds kinda like a contradiction to me.)

Does it strike you as just a little bit arrogant on mankind's part to think that in this great universe that was created by an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent Being, that little ol' man could do anything that would affect global warming?

It strikes me that way. It seems to me that is the ultimate in egotism. We should take care of our environment, for health and economic concerns, but not because the earth is changing to the degree that we are in danger. If God chooses to end things that way it is His business and then nothing we can do would lessen it anyway.

Listen to their arguments when they are discussing it. They have an agenda and are very political ....and as all of their senseless projects are, it is all about money and also about power and being able to tell us what we can and can not do and when we can do it. They take the unusual hot spells and the dry spells (forgetting that we have not been keeping records for enough decades or centuries to have an overall global pattern) and then use that to push for their drastic agendas.

Oh yes, I know they also have their scientific data but they set a false premise to begin with and then base their facts on that and even facts, based on a false premise is no good.

It was brought to my attention the other day by someone very dear to me that if they can keep pushing their agenda, that someday we may be forced to give up our individual modes of transportation and all have to go to public transit travel modes, all in the name of Global Warming.

Then they can tell you when you can go and where. There is a group of them who want more power and thus the global warming scare tactic. Yes, it is all about money and power in the hands of a few. Think about it!

Children are so cute

One Sunday a mother could not attend due to illness and asked her very young daughter what the lesson had been about that day.

The daughter answered that it was about "getting prizes for going to church". The mother thought that was strange and questioned her further. The little girl finally said, "Well, the preacher said, 'Don't be scared and you'll get your blanket.'" Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed.

Later the minister stopped by to visit and the Mom asked him what that morning's lesson had been about. He said, "My topic was 'Be not afraid, the comforter is coming.'"

ALL STATERS AND THEIR JACKETS

Our grandchildren all grown up. They were all 3 All Staters in their highschool career and their mother wanted a picture of them all together in their all state jackets. This was taken about a year ago. Bragging rights: They were all three valedictorians of their graduating high school class and all three were homecoming king/queen of the basketball teams.
Graduating years from left: 2005, 2003, 2002.
Our little grandchildren just a tad older and putting on a Christmas play for us in their barn. They had the cows and calves as props. They wrote the play themselves and planned the whole thing. They wouldn't perform for us in the house...we all had to go out to the barn to watch it. They were very talented for their age. They did this a lot for different occasions while they were young.

Our Planned Day

Our grandchildren making "Christmas Cookies"
in 1989

February looks to be a wonderful month for us.
Today we have a date with our two granddaughters to meet for lunch at our favorite restaurant in their college town. We meet with them often. We always have so much fun with them. We are always laughing so much (they are soooo funny) I don't see how we have time to eat...but we always manage. They have a scant hour because both are in college classes and both also work. Busy girls...but not too busy for Me-Ma and Pa-Pa. What a blessing from God in these two and their brother also, who is away at college also, 3 1/2 hour drive from us.

We were blessed to have them live close almost their whole lives. We watched them grow up into faithful Christian young people. We have lots of fond memories of their childhood.
